Here we’ll focus on reviewing all of the commercial Starcraft 2 guides that are available online. We’ll go through the contents of each guide so that you can make a well informed decision when buying.

Shokz Starcraft 2 Guide

The man who’s name is synonymous with quality gaming guides has done it again. Whenever you buy a guide written by John Greenhoe you can be certain that it’s good stuff.

This time he’s really outdone himself though. I’ve never seen such an extensive guide from him ever before. And better yet, it’s updated weekly! So the list below is just what’s available at the time of writing (Updated: December 21, 2010).

Here’s some of the reading material that you get when purchasing the Shokz Starcraft 2 Guide:

Hot Key & APM Guides (5 guides)

WoL Campaign Guide (26 guides)

General Guide (8 Starcraft 2 guides)

Terran Guide (18 Starcraft 2 guides)

Terran Unit Guide (11 Starcraft 2 guides)

Protoss Guide (11 Starcraft 2 guides)

Protoss Unit Guide (12 Starcraft 2 guides)

Zerg Guide (13 Starcraft 2 guides)

Zerg Unit Guide (9 Starcraft 2 guides)

Team Guides (2 Starcraft 2 guide)

Achievement Guides (13 Starcraft 2 guides)

Galaxy Editor Guide (1 Starcraft 2 guide)

So at the time of writing the Shokz Starcraft 2 Guide package contains a whopping 132 guides! And it’s only bound to get better with time.

Joana’s Starcraft 2 Guide

The name Joana is well known from the World of Warcraft scene, and now he (sorry guys, it’s not a girl) brings the same quality of work to the growing library of Starcraft 2 guides. What really makes Joana’s Starcraft 2 Guide stand out from the rest are the videos. You’ll get exclusive streaming divx video commentaries, as well as in depth written strategy guides.

At the time of writing the members area contains in depth strategies for each race, including 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4 and FFA games, and videos to go along with them. A single player campaign walk through is also included.

Overall the quality of Joana’s Starcraft 2 Guide is on par with Shokz, plus it has the welcome  addition of in-game footage and speech thanks to the videos, which makes parts of it easier to take in rather than having to read everything. They are both good purchases, so just have a look at both of their websites and take your pick.
